Inspirational and admirable!

In today’s world it can sometimes be difficult to find true and genuine souls to admire. There is just this feeling you get when you find someone that inspires you to be better, to appreciate life and the those around you. At times, that person is who you least expect to make an impact in your life. It is not rare to find these people but it can take a while. To find someone that inspires me, the person must be strong, have overcome something extraordinary and have a testimony in life. The person must leave an incredible impression in my life.

Picture it, Sicily......... hahaha just kidding. No Golden Girls moment here but seriously. Picture it. You see this beautiful woman who is dressed nicely. Her hair looks beautiful and not a piece out of place. She has her makeup down perfectly with a gorgeous smile. You think wow! She’s got it all together or look how beautiful she is or maybe even dang where did she get that outfit or even the simple thought of woah I wish i had a little of what she’s got. What if you knew the truth about that woman. Think you go to that woman’s house. Her house is spotless. Beautifully decorated and not one thing out of place. When you walk in, she treats you like royalty. She asks you if you need anything to drink or if you are hungry. She engaged in conversation with you while she makes you a full meal. That gorgeous woman listens to you speak and barely says a single word about herself. You stare for a moment and think, yes she has got it all together!

I am talking about someone in particular. This woman has so many battle scars that no one could ever be able to see because she wears them hidden. She wears them hidden as her medical conditions and her fears. This woman is a warrior of so many proportions. To live on the brink of life and death more then once and not be older the 40 at those moments is unreal to me. This woman lives tired and run down but you will never see when you look at her. She pushes herself to limits no one realizes because she fights the good fight to be ok on a daily basis. She fights for her kids, her granddaughter and her loved ones because she refuses to give up on life. She wants to be here for every possible moment.

To explain that because she knows tomorrow is not promised is an understatement. She lives her life while sick and in pain because she is grateful for the chance to see another day! She gave her granddaughter the most amazing 1st birthday party. What she told me will forever stick in my mind and gives me tears. She said “I am doing this now, even though she won’t remember It, because I may not be here for her 15th or Sweet 16. She will have all the pictures as a memory so she remembers how much I loved her”. It made my heart happy and broke it all at the same time.

Most of us complain about getting up in the morning. Getting up for her is something priceless! For those of us that say, I don’t want to go to work, you would hear her say I wish I could. She has multiple therapy sessions a week, appointments and blood draws. And to hear her complain about it all is rare!

She is honest, open, kind, forgiving, and has been through so much in life that she is more than worthy of being admired. She has taught me to see somethings I was aware of but in a different way. Ever since I have gotten close to her (which has been over the last few years), the following things have more meanings: gratefulness, faith, hope, unconditional love, support, happiness, self-respect, being an advocate, and trust me, the list goes on.

If you have someone in your life that has taught you anything like this or is similar, cherish them. Love on this person as much as you can. Observe that persons character, who they are, what makes them who they are and use it to your advantage. Learn from them to make you better. Let all the things the people important in your life cannot do be your motivation. Do things in their honor!

i just have to say before I finish, to my cuz and also my sister (as we call each other), you inspire me to be better. Your support in life and my blog has been so important. I love every moment and memory we have together! You’re unconditional love means so much to me that I cannot put it into words. The love you show my family is indescribable and more then appreciated! I love you to the moon and back. Never stop fighting for you like you have shown me! I am grateful to have you in my life!
